A Stunning Front Foundation Design by Erik
After the success of his first installation, Erik was honored to be invited back by his former client to design the front foundation of their newly constructed residence. His vision brought lush, flowing planting beds that seamlessly embrace the front walkway, blending evergreens, small woody shrubs, and perennials for continuous seasonal color from spring through fall.
Instead of traditional boxwoods, Erik selected Duke Gardens Plum Yews—an exceptionally hardy, shade-tolerant, disease-resistant, drought-proof, and deer-proof evergreen. These beautifully rounded plants provide rich green color year-round. The outer edge of the beds bursts with carefully curated plantings, including spring-flowering Peonies, native Dwarf Leucothoe, and compact Catmint.
As summer unfolds, the landscape comes alive with the vibrant blooms of Purple Coneflowers and Millenium Allium, offering a spectacular, low-maintenance display. Later in the season, Sapphire Surf Caryopteris delivers a final wave of striking purple plumes, while Doubleplay Spirea and Magma Heuchera provide a stunning contrast of foliage and floral color throughout the growing months.
Enjoy a glimpse of the transformation with photos capturing the planting day setup, installation, and a late summer follow-up—where Millenium Allium and Caryopteris steal the show with their breathtaking pink and purple blooms.
